Lisa McCarrel founded Move Bay Area to provide relocation services with unparalleled support and personal attention to professionals, families, and students moving to the Bay Area. She brings years of relocation experience, Bay Area rental expertise and a "can-do" attitude to each client's situation. Over the years, Lisa has developed invaluable relationships with real estate companies, property managers, and rental companies to connect clients to the best properties in the Bay Area.

I have lived and worked throughout the United States and Central America before returning to the place I love, the San Francisco Bay Area, and putting down roots. My own experiences relocating as a college student, and later as a young professional and as a parent inform the work that I do for you and your family. I understand the questions you have and the issues you face as you move across country or across continents and must find your way in unfamiliar territory. Let me be your guide: I’ll show you the ins and outs of my home and help you find where you fit. 

 

Education Experience 

 

I have extensive experience in the field of Education, having earned a BA in Education at Mills College in Oakland and having worked for the Alameda County Office of Education. I've also worked in 25 schools throughout the Bay Area. As a parent, I’ve experienced preschool waiting lists, school lotteries, impacted public schools and a mid-year move to a new city with my kids. As a relocation consultant, I have researched and provided tours of International schools, private and public schools in every Bay Area county matching my clients with the best possible fit for their educational goals.

Since I’ve lived and worked in most of the Bay Area counties, Move Bay Area can offer you a uniquely large coverage area. My knowledge of the housing and educational climate extends from San Francisco, Marin, Alameda to Contra Costa County.  I can offer resources, advice and inside information to help you first choose the area and city that meets your needs then focus the home search in that area. I draw from property management and real estate resources I’ve gathered over the years and a network of trusted contacts in all coverage areas to efficiently match you with just the right property in the city of your choice.

Monica is a third-generation Bay Area Native. She was born and raised in the East Bay, attended college in San Francisco, and currently resides in the East Bay; Monica has as expert perspective on all things local. When she’s not leading Move Bay Area’s client support services, she can be found exploring the hidden gems around the Bay Area’s food and culture scene.

I believe in the thorough understanding of our clients' unique needs, backgrounds, and lifestyles so that we can match them with the home and neighborhood that is right for them. In the Bay Area's challenging rental market, my greatest value to our clients is being able to provide them a realistic outlook of what they can expect to achieve in today’s climate so they can make informed decisions and find that special place.

Specialties

As an animal lover, I consider finding pet-friendly homes for our clients my specialty. In my free time, you can find me volunteering at my local no-kill animal sanctuary. 

Prior to Move Bay Area, I worked in the public sector dedicated to youth services and community recreation. I graduated from San Francisco State with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Health Education and have worked in grass-roots program development and mentorship for at-risk youth and adults in San Francisco. 

Yiu Kam, Operations

Yiu supports Move Bay Area through overall business strategy, operations support, IT, and marketing. He is the company’s resident foodie and loves to spend time exploring the many downtowns throughout the Bay Area. When Yiu isn’t supporting Move Bay Area, he wears his other hat as a creative director at an environmental consulting firm. 
Experience

 

Yiu’s life journey is not unlike the clients that Move Bay Area supports. As an immigrant at age 5, Yiu and his family learned the ins and outs of the Bay Area through trial and error: the best Asian eateries to go to, how to navigate American grocery stores, what’s the process to getting your driver’s license? From this lens, Yiu is passionate about supporting Move Bay Area as best he can. 

 

Specialties

In a previous career, Yiu was an urban planner/designer and today still likes to keep the pulse on the Bay’s newest development trends and updates.
